UNITED WE STAND DIVIDED WE FALL
18th UNAA NewYork Convention
The first half of 2006 has been a very self realizing period we have moved with strong strides in achieving our goals. We had exposure to wider audience than 2005.
We have made EIGHTShows which were greatly appreciated by our audience. (See Appreciation) . APT is expecting to end this years major performances on its schedule by performing on the 18th UNAA convention in New York. It is worth noting that the , the community has honored APT members to be in charge of Entertainment, though with some upheavals in the mode of operation that led to several of the APT representatives to resign from the committee. Never the less, the President of APT has weathered the storms and persisted since there were many issues that fall line with APT's objectives most technical of which is promotion of Ugandan Local artistes. This has been handled well in collaboration of the APT members who had been on the committee, but had resigned ,because they have a more personal touch with the Artistes Body in Uganda,
On APT's first public appearance June 3rd 2005, There were many supporters and Corner stone figures in the Ugandan community. The chairman of Uganda American Association of Greater New York and New Jersey (UAAGNY). In his very motivating speech, Mr. Edward Wanda declared that APT had been hired for this upcoming convention according to what he had seen, from then APT has been preparing for this convention.
The foundation of a nation is its culture. Uganda has a very rich cultural traditions. APT is so proud of this cultural wealth and we feel that the rest of the world can get the true picture of Uganda and Africa at large, by knowing more about this culture positively. Through a true spirit genuine volunteering APT has evolved into an organ that can comfortably stand autonomously to poetry Uganda's culture in all aspects. At this not it worth mentioning the importance of the community support to realize this goal, like the above mentioned chairman Mr. Edward Wanda irrespective of the contentious issues that have been in existence. There are more like him not mentioned here BUT the bottom line is that, it is through such support that we shall realize National Unity and tolerance, to be able to foster development in our communities wherever they are, so that we can foster positive development in all sectors of our communities , hence the entire nation.
THE EXECUTIVE BODY WISHES TO EXTEND ITS MOST SINCERE GRATITTUDE TO THE ENTIRE APT MEMBERSHIP AND THE UNAA NEW YORK ORGANIZING COMMITTEE FOR THE OVERWHELMING SUPPORT EXTENDED TO APT, TO DELIVER AT THE CONVENTION.
APT MEMBERS, YOU ARE ALL REMIINDED THAT OUR YEARS PROGRAM SHALL BE CULMINATING IN THE END OF YEAR SHOW WITH A CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCE. TURN UP FOR REHEARSAL AT THE SAME VENUE.
On Thursday 8/10/2006,Apt had a general meeting after the president had been subjected to duress, into a situation with the 18th UNAA convention Committee, that had led him to a conclusion of excluding APT from performing on that Occasion. It did not auger very well in the ears of the many.
The APTs are united to deliver to the Convention audience, irrestpective of ideological differences. We respect the differeces but we are not limited by any creed, political idiology, ethinicity . As long as you recognize Uganda as sovoreign country and her cultural constitution.
After the conclusion of this meeting, the members decided to join their fellow artistes in the world to mourn the loss of on veteran in the Entertainment industry, the Late Jimmy Katumba. They stood for a moment of silence. APT has a lot to learn from the life History of such Artistes.
We wish you nice 2006 UNAA convention
